Programs Overview
Outreach programs are led by Virginia Beach History Museums educators. These programs are aligned with the most up-to-date SOLs for social studies and science. By engaging students in hands-on activities and critical thinking, they will learn while having fun!
The cost for Title I schools is $100 for one presentation or $80 each for two or more presentations. For non-Title I schools, it is $125 for one presentation or $100 each for two or more presentations.

Explore Programs
What would it be like stepping into an entirely different world? Students will use their imaginations and observation skills to step into the past! They will explore how the past is similar to and different from today. By the time our visitors return to the 21st century, they'll discover the lives of children over 200 years ago are surprisingly similar to their own!
Someone’s keeping secrets in Hampton Roads! Immerse yourself in ciphers and codes as you learn about some of the key figures and the various ways important information was passed by both sides during the Revolutionary War. Make your own coding device to keep your secrets safe.
What did a Revolutionary War soldier carry in his haversack? In this program, you will look at reproduction artifacts and critically analyze them using your five senses to determine what they are, what they are made of, what they were used for, and what they can tell us about the life of a Revolutionary War soldier.
