As we get closer to our next FREE Conversation with a Curator event, let's highlight a prominent tribute to the subject at hand, Grace Sherwood, the "Witch of Pungo." Cunningham, depicts Sherwood carrying a bundle of garlic and rosemary next to a raccoon, representing her love for animals, along with her knowledge of herbal medicines for healing.
Learn more about Sherwood's history at the Lynnhaven Colonial Education Center on Thursday, Aug. 3, from 5-7 p.m. We will be joined by Scott Moore, a Virginia Beach native and associate professor of history at Eastern Connecticut State University, who is currently writing a book about her history and legend.
